An Active + Beautiful Home is Possible with Performance Fabrics

WITH HEATHER RABOLD-HILL

Do you wish there was a fabric that met your busy family’s exact needs?

Maybe there is … but no one took the time to explain it to you!

I have found that very few furniture salespeople understand the difference in fabric constructions.  And even fewer take the time to explain them in a way that helps you come to an informed buying decision.  It can lead to future frustration and regret.

The words “performance fabric” get thrown around a lot.  But what do they really mean?

That is the very reason I am so excited to have Fabric Expert Extraordinaire, Heather Raibold-Hill as a guest on the In Her Eyes podcast.

The right fabrics can transform the way you get to live in your home!

Matching your fabric needs to your family’s needs and your personal design aesthetic is the secret to creating a lovable and live able home that stands the test of time!

How things look is only half of the design puzzle.

The secret to creating a home that you love is making informed choices.  Determining what serves your needs, and the needs of your family in each individual space.

Heather Rabold-Hill has been in the design industry for nearly 3 decades.  With a background in History, she is both an educator and a storyteller in the way she weaves fabric choices into her work.  With extensive experience in fabric workrooms, at both Calico Corners and the luxury home furnishings store, Sheffield’s; Heather learned firsthand how different fabrics work in different applications.  As a representative for a variety of designer exclusive fabric and wallpaper suppliers, Heather is passionate about educating her customers so they can stay at the forefront of product technology to make the best possible choices for their design clients. She is currently a regional sales rep for Stout Fabric, a 4th generation fabric supplier in Pennsylvania.

In this episode, we explain

  • exactly what it means when a fabric is called a Performance fabric.
  • How they have evolved through the years
  • Which ones should be used for which situation
  • Each of the different types and the process involved in creating them
  • And THE EXCITING NEW FABRICS ON THE HORIZON!

Fabric is the one of the best examples of the phrase, “Necessity is the Mother of Invention.”

And on the subject of motherhood, Heather talks about the influence that being in the design industry had on her 2 amazing (and amazingly different) daughters.  Including the lessons and gifts that they will take with them into adulthood.

Great design means there is a place for everything, and everything in it’s place.  And there is a perfect fabric to create the look and feel you desire to create.  It’s just getting the facts straight!

Get a glimpse behind the scenes of what goes into a beautifully designed space!

And if you love to sew like Heather and I do, this list of “50 Best Fabric Quotes”  will have you laughing ‘til it hurts!
